For the first time in 17 years state-wide drought has been declared urging all Californians to reduce their water usage by 10% to avoid mandatory rationing later this year.
Here are some tips:
Turn off water tap when brushing or doing dishes. You will save 2.5 gallons every minute.
Take shorter showers. Each reduced minute will save 2.5 gallons. Or better use buckets like we used to do in old old times.
Don’t allow the hose to run when washing your car.
Operate your clothes and dishwashers ONLY with full-loads even if you have adjustable settings.
Other tips for homeowners:
Leaking faucet can waste more than 2000 gallons per month.
Be sure your sprinklers are watering plants and not pavements.Make sure your plumbing is not broken.
Use higher-efficiency fixtures and appliances.
